Sterling, 72, Buried at Rock SpringsLuther G. Sterling, 72, of Blountsville, Rt. 1, died Sunday afternoon a few minutes after arrival at Arab Hospital in a Gober Ambulance. He suffered a heart attack at his home in the Rock Springs Community.Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Rock Springs Methodist Church. The Rev. Tunis Alldredge and the Rev. Alvin Blakely officiated. Gober Funeral Chapel, Arab directed burial in the adjoining cemetery.Mr. Sterling, born in Jefferson County May 5, 1892, had lived in the Rock Springs Community most of his life. His parents were the late Luther and Clara Smith Sterling. He and his wife, the former Ola Murphree, had been married for 51 years.Survivors other than his wife are a son, Grover Sterling of Blountsville, Rt. 1; two daughters, Mrs. Jewel Smith and Mrs. Vashtie Dover, both of Blountsville, Rt. 1; two half brothers, Walter and Chalmers Aldridge of Blountsville Rt. 1; two half sisters, Mrs. Cora Mann and Mrs. Bessie McPherson of Birmingham; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Active pallbearers were Roy H.
