Dennis thanks for finishing that story; I remember that from you and I talking 10 years ago. I had his in-laws wrong. Did you tell me one time that you had been in contact with some Revods? He changed his name to Revod after he escaped. He didn't go far and was in the area that Bobby Dover just mentioned. He is in several censuses. There are no living Dover descendants. Peter is said by maternal descendants to have said "Dover" on his deathbed - none of his children knew they were Dover's. Peter was apparently a farmer and school teacher the rest of his life. Jesse & Amanda Dover Miller are thought to have gone to Tennessee. The DNA of John & Elizabeth Dover's descendants would be one of the most interesting and probably surprising. Another story passed down from Peter's family was that they had kin in Anderson County, South Carolina. Bibb County, Alabama - 1st 100 years Peter Dover with his brother-in-law Jesse Miller made a practice and living robbing their neighbors. It was difficult to charge them though because they were difficult to catch in the act of robbery. Livestock, grain, cotton, anything that could be sold was a target. Once they were caught because a farmer had marked his cotton in such a way to be recognized when it was sold. Jesse owned 12 mule farm SE of Scottsdale and was the leader of the gang. Peter Dover shot Archie Wood from ambush and was sent to State Prison January 1884 - needless to say, he escaped. -----Original Message----- From: Gayle Calabrese [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, January 18, 2004 8:12 PM To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Dover] Peter Dover Dennis..........Wasn't it a Peter "RevoD" who shows up in the west someplace about this time?
