Goodness, amazing research. I wonder if the Dover's were ever trackers? You are good! Dover was living in Polk County, TN, District No. 9. The census was taken April 22-23, 1910. He was 36 years old, born in Georgia (both parents born in Georgia). He was a laborer for the railroad. His wife Bertha was 23. They had been married 8 years; Bertha had 3 children and 2 are alive. The children in the home were: William, 6, b. TN, and Bernist?, 4, born in Texas (why was he in Texas?) Polk County, TN shows a death for Ader Dover, age 3 days, 9th District, Polk County, TN, d. Feb 9, 1910 (cause unknown). On September 12, 1918, James Jeptha Dover completed his draft registration card. He lived at Route 3, Lyerly, Chattooga, GA. He was 45, born August 23, 1873. He was a farmer for "Mack" Hogg at Lyerly, and his next of kin was his wife, Bertha Dover. He signed his name. He was short, medium build, blue eyes and light hair. (Mack turns out to be Mark or Marcus Hogg which is how I found him next). In 1920, James J. Dover was living at Lyerly (listed as Subligna), Chattooga County, Ga. (indexed as Jas ??) He was 46, born in Georgia, and a farm laborer. Mark Hogg was nearby. Wife Bertha was 35, Willie was 16. Bernest (m) was 14, Berl (m) was 7, Ernest was 5, Ollie (f) was 3-1/2, and Grady was 9 months old. In 1930, James appears as John J. Dover in Precinct 2, Ellis, TX (Palmer and Neck Road). He is still 46 and a farm laborer. His wife Bertha is now also 46. She married at 17, and he married at age 27. The children are: William is 26, Bernest is 24, Burrell is 18, Earnest (looks like Tarnest) is 15, Ollie is 13, Grady is 12, and Pauline is 7. All the older boys are farm laborers. There is a Neck Road which runs through Palmer, Texas. I've been able to track Grady Dover through the Ancestry.com online records: I don't have a marriage date but his wife's name (Ruby Inez Chauvin) is listed on the following two birth records in Dallas County, TX (Ronnie Gene Dover b. Jan 20, 1945, and Gary Don Dover, b. Jan 2, 1948): Name: Gary Don Dover Date of Birth: 2 Jan 1948 Gender: Male Birth County: Dallas Father's Name: Grady Dover Mother's Name: Ruby Inez Chauvin Roll Number: 1948_0004 Name: Ronnie Gene Dover Date of Birth: 20 Jan 1945 Gender: Male Birth County: Dallas Father's Name: Grady Dover Mother's Name: Ruby Inez Chauvin Roll Number: 1945_0003 Gary Don Dover is shown in the divorce and marriage records of Dallas County (divorced Donna and married Patricia Sue Talley): Name: Gary D Dover Estimated Birth Year: abt 1949 Age: 24 Spouse's Name: Donna L [Dover] Spouse's Estimated Birth Year: abt 1949 Spouse's Age: 24 Divorce Date: 13 Mar 1973 Marriage Date: 13 May 1967 Number of Children: 0 County: Tarrant Name: Gary D Dover Estimated Birth Year: 1948 Age: 27 Gender: Male Spouse: Patricia S Tally Spouse's Estimated Birth Year: 1950 Spouse's Age: 25 Marriage Date: 18 Feb 1975 Marriage County: Dallas County License Code: 57 Gary Don Dover and Patricia Talley have a son: Name: Jeffery Scott Dover Date of Birth: 4 Oct 1976 Gender: Male Birth County: Tarrant Father's Name: Gary Don Dover Mother's Name: Patricia Sue Tally Roll Number: 1976_0004 Grady Dover, son of James Jeptha Dover, son of Levi Anderson Belton Dover, son of Jeptha Dover passed away in 1988: SS Record: Name: Grady Dover SSN: 456-20-5662 Last Residence: 75050 Grand Prairie, Dallas, Texas, United States of America Born: 23 Mar 1919 Last Benefit: 75050 Grand Prairie, Dallas, Texas, United States of America Died: Oct 1988 State (Year) SSN issued: Texas (Before 1951 ) Texas Death Records: Name: Grady Dover Death Date: 19 October 1988 Death County: DALLAS Gender: M All of the above from Ancestry.com (with a lot of tricks and patience). Dennis, I think you might have a descendant of Jeptha to check out now (in your spare time). I would love it if someone could clarify the boys names: Bernist, Ernist, Ternist, etc. Marjorie Dover Stansel ==== DOVER Mailing List ==== Dover Genforum http://genforum.genealogy.com/dover/
