Luther is the son of John Luther Dover and Elizabeth Foster. Below is the entirety of the information I've located to date on this family. If anyone comes across any of these names (still some missing census records), please post: 1. JOHN LUTHER DOVER was born 1858 in Lumpkin County, GA. He married (1) ELIZABETH J. FOSTER July 25, 1878 in Forsyth County, Georgia, daughter of JOHN FOSTER and NANCY PAGE. He married (2) JOANNAH ROPER March 01, 1903 in Lumpkin County, GA. He married (3) JANE GARRETT March 04, 1908 in Lumpkin County, GA. Notes for JOHN LUTHER DOVER: In November 1885, the Forsyth County deed records show that Betty J. Dover sold 40 acres in Forsyth County, Georgia to John L. Jones. Betty could sign her name. Her husband John L. witnessed the deed, and he was unable to write. In 1900, John L. Dover was in Forsyth County, GA. John L. was 43, and his wife Elizabeth was 42. Luther was 20, Jason was 10, and John A. was 6. He was farming next door to his parents and one of his sisters. A John Dover married Joannah Roper in 1903 in Forsyth County, Georgia, and a J. L. Dover married Jane Garrett on March 4, 1908 in Forsyth County. Although the date on his first wife's tombstone appears to be 12-14-1903 (Betty J. Dover, died 12-14-1903, age 52 years 1 day), the tombstone was an older one, and the date was not easily read. If he did in fact marry Joannah Roper, he married her before his first wife died, so I need to solve that mystery. In 1910, a John L. and a Jane Dover (which would fit the Forsyth marriage) are in Jackson County, Georgia. With them is John A. (by John's first wife), a son named Walter who is 5 (by Joannah Roper?) and another child yet unnamed. This leads me to believe that John had a child by his second wife, and she also died. Alternatively, John A. might have been the one to marry Joannah Roper in 1903, had the child named Walter, his wife passed away, and he and the son moved back with his father. In 1920, J.L. Dover was living in Blacks Militia District in Dawson County, Georgia. He is listed as 63 years of age. He indicates his father was born in South Carolina. His son Walter is age 17, and he has two other sons, Henry age 9, and Thomas age 7. He says he is a Widower. Two children are buried near Betty, so they must belong to her and John L. Dover. No death dates are given. Thomas Dover died at age 11 months, and Leroy Dover died at 1 year and 13 days. Children of JOHN DOVER and ELIZABETH FOSTER are: 2. i. LUTHER DOVER, b. April 1880. 3. ii. Notes for WILLIAM JASON DOVER: Jason appears on the 1910 census for Hall County, Georgia, living with his cousin, Grover Cleveland Bell, Hulda Dover Bell's son. He listed his age as 20. Grover C. Bell was 25, and his wife Bettis was 21. They had a son named Cecil, age 1 year and 3 months. In 1920, Jason is listed as William J. in Hall County (Candler District) in 1920 and is married to Callie B., age 22. He is 32, which would fit the age of Jason Dover. They have 3 children: Earnest L., 5; Curtis, 4; and Eunice J. 1 yr 3 months. William is a farmer. In 1913, a Jason Dover married Callie Stringer; thereby allowing me to tie Jason to this couple. Callie B. Dover died in Hall County March 5, 1926. On November 1, 1926, Jason Dover married Laura Adams; Arnold L. Bennett, Minister of the Gospel performed the ceremony. In 1930, a William J. Dover was living in the Minish District of Jackson County. This may be Jason since his father, John Luther, lived in Jackson County for some of his life, but the children and spouse do not match with the above William J. Dover. A William J.
