    1. Hicks/Dover
    2. FYI As you know the Indiana Dovers have been very difficult in tracing their roots. But I have found something interesting... Hiram Hicks, born about 1800 in North Carolina, second marriage was in Greene County, IN in 1823 to Dica Dover. A biography on his son, James M. Hicks was found and states he was born 1817 in Knox County, Tennessee and that Dover was a native of Scotland. This is the first I've seen of an Indiana Dover stating Scotland... Most say IN, KY, TN, or SC. I've always thought that perhaps my Joshua Dover born 1790-1800 in KY and Dica were siblings... Now I'm wondering......about a lot of things.. Greene County, Indiana Hiram Hicks Spouse: Dica Dover Marriage Date: 06 Nov 1823 Source: H.W. Beckwith - 1880 JAMES M. HICKS, blacksmith and ferryman, New Goshen, was born in Knox county, Tennessee, October 2, 1817, and is the son of Hiram and Dicy (DOVER) HICK, natives of Ireland and Scotland. They moved to Greene county, Indiana, July 29, 1832.
