Sikeston Herald Sikeston, Missouri May 26, 1938 (Two different articles and a picture) John Dover, high school junior, played a trumpet solo "Sounds from the Hudson" by Clarke with which he won the State Contest at Columbia a few weeks ago. Mary Dover is pictured in the High School Graduation picture of 1938 Russell Reunion to be held at Arcadia A reunion of the Russell Family which more than 200 members from many parts of the United States expect to attend will be held at the Methodist assembly grounds at Arcadia on Monday May 30. The land on which the tabernacle is located and on which the meeting will take place is the former homestead site of Cyrus Russell, who came from Connecticut and settled at Arcadia 100 years ago. The gathering is in commemoration of that event. On Saturday members of the family will go to Arcadia and until late Monday will be in the cottages on the assembly grounds. On Sunday there will be meetings at the tabernacle, when a history of the Russell family will be given. A program of music and talks will also be given during the day. On Monday the entire assembly will have dinner in the dining room there for which 200 reservations have been made. Those from Sikeston who will go to Arcadia Saturday are Mr. and Mrs. John Russell, Mrs Margaret Bowman and children, Miss Margaret, Paul Jr., and Phil. Mr. and Mrs. Arch Russell and daughter, Miss Emily, Mrs. Kathleen Dover and daughters, Misses Dorothy, Mary, and Laura, and Mrs. Glenn Matthews Jr., and son Glenn 3d. Mr. and Mrs. Girard Dover of New York will arrive Saturday and on Sunday in company with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Dover, will go to Arcadia. Mr. and Mrs. Giles Dover, also of New York, will arrive Sunday and will be met in St. Louis by Mr. Dover's sister, Mrs. M. C. Cunningham and husband of Desloge. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dover and sons, Bobby and John will also go to Arcadia Sunday. Other members of the family from this section who will attend are Pitt Russells of Hayti and Cape Girardeau, and Willard Russell and family also of Hayti.
