I saw an obituary for Robert Edgar Dover born 1943, died August 11, 2005 in the Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis, IN It does not list any family members. He lived in Shelbyville, Indiana. He appears to be the son of Edgar Dover born 1914, and the grandson son of Arnold Dover born 1878 in Tennessee. According to the 1900 census Arnold Dover was living in Union County, Tennessee. Hope this helps someone. pami54@aol.com

From Ancestry (the birth date given differs from another one I have): On September 12, 1918, David Young Dover, age 43, completed his WWI draft registration form. He states he was born June 10, 1876. He was living in Johnson County, OK at the time he completed the form (I can't read the name of the city). He was farming for himself, and his next of kin was Ada Estelle Dover. He was able to sign his name. He was tall, slender, brown eyes and black hair. Marjorie Dover Stansel

I believe this is Louis Lafayette Dover, son of Augustus McDowell Dover, and grandson of Francis Marion Dover. Bartow County has a marriage for Lewis Dover to Mattie Wallace on October 16, 1887, and a marriage for L.L. Dover to Nancy J. Going on December 1, 1885. I believe his first marriage produced the child that died in 1893. Here is a repost of some information I posted previously from the Cherokee Heritage Book: William George Washington Going, Union County, SC His son, William Mack Isaac Going m. Margaret Cordelia ("Delie" Cole Their daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Going, b. 11/25/1877, d. 12-55, m. Louise Lafayette Dover Their children: Roland, Delie, Effie, Herman, Teddy, Clarence & Burrell. In 1880, William A. Dover, age 16, was living with his parents in Cove Township, Polk County, AR. In 1900, William A. Dover (indexed as Doser), age 35, born June 1864, was a farmer in the White township of Polk County, Arkansas. He had been married 6 years to Mary F., who was born February 1874 in Arkansas. She had had 2 children and 2 were living. Their two children together were: Douglas O. b, September 1894, and Lester M. b. July 1896. Bertha A., b. September 1888, also born in Arkansas, was age 11. I believe Bertha is William's daughter by Mary Shults. In 1910, William A. Dover, age 45, second marriage, was living in the Cove Township in Polk County, AR. He was a farmer and had been married 15 years. His wife Mollie, age 39, had been married 13 years (her first marriage). She had 5 children and 3 were living. Douglas O. was 14, Lester M. In 1920, William, age 57, and Mollie, age 46, were living at the Cove Township, Polk County, Arkansas. Douglas O. was 24, McNeal was 22, Joy was 6. Mollie died in 1923, but I can't find William in 1930. Apparently he died in 1949 (unless I'm picking up the wrong William A. from the death index. On June 15, 1917, Douglas Olen Dover completed his WWI draft registration form. He was 21 years old, born September 25, 1895, in Hatfield, AR. He was farming for his father W.A. Dover in Hatfield, AR; he was single and signed his name. He was tall, slender, brown eyes and light colored hair. I don't find him in 1930, but he died October 11, 1992 in Fort Smith, Sebastian, AR. On August 24, 1918, Lester McNeal Dover, age 21, completed his WWI draft registration card. He was born July 23, 1897 in Hatfield, AR and was living with his father (Wm Allen Dover) at the time he completed the card. His father was born in Alabama; his next of kin was his mother Mollie Dover. He was medium height, medium build, brown eyes and light brown hair. He could sign his name.
