Some of you may have gotten the posts just sent in duplicate. They were first sent in HTML, but weren't going through, so I re sent them in plain text. Then again, maybe no one got them..........The way things have been going lately that is more the case. I have just upgraded my browser and everything's a mess!!

If you enjoy Gaelic, or Irish- Scottish music, you need to go to become familiar with Connie Dover's music. She was born in Ark. and raised/ lives in Mo. Can find her on the web..........
This family appears to be from the Carolinas. It is very confusing since my great grandfather Samuel Dover [grandson of Samuel and Susan[nee'Campbell] Dover] , who was married to Sarah Virginia Mealer, was recently discovered to have the middle initial "M." Also, I rec'd a letter from a Mealer researcher who had the info that my Samuel M. had been married before with children from that marriage. Whoops........From what we understand about SVMealer, she would never have married him if he had been divorced, since the info ref. above states that the Blanton sife lived until 1950. Is this probably coincidence? Yeah.......'Cause mine supposedly died in 1898! Of course, maybe he just "went away." That happens.........
On the above FTM page was a reference to a Clara L. Blanton, born March 06, 1884, died Nov. 09, 1950, who was married to Samuel Martin Dover in 1897. She would have been 13. Their children are listed as: Emmia M. Dover, b.. May 1898, Will Dover, b. August 16, 1900, died April 18, 196 4 Nannie Dover, b. Dec. 08, 1912, died August 30, 1977 Geneiva Dover [ no birthdate]
Within the index is a "Ark. [Arkansas?} Dover, pp.56, 100, and 105.

He just up and left wife and children in late 1850s in Carroll Co., GA. His son said "he left with that red headed devil." Well, we found old John in Greene Co., AR in 1860 with a new wife and two children. His real wife didn't die untill 1888. By the way, the Horsleys moved to Carroll Co. from York Co., SC. This from the Pope County, Arkansas history book, Volume One. The following is the message that was sent to me. W. F. Dover is listed page 106/107 As more people moved into the community, the need for Christian teaching increased. To meet this need, a union Sunday school was organized with the superintendent and teachers being peace loving citizens. In 1884, a Baptist Church of Christ was organized. B. D. R. Shinn was church Clerk. Members listed in 1906 were: [There are many and I won't list them, but W.F. Dover was one]Services of the church would begin on Saturday and continue through Sunday, necessitating a place for horses to be hitched and kept "in the dry". For this purpose, a long shed was built beside the building to stable the horses in rainy weather, the wagons being covered with bows and wagon sheets. Later, the Odd Fellows organization added a second story to the original building to accomodate their meetings. Page 453 Logan Walker Tucker was born in 1833 in Breckinridge County, KY. He enlisted at Lewisburg in 1862 and served in Co. B., Gordon's Regiment, Arkansas Cavalry, CSA. Before 1880 he was a grocer in Atkins, Pope County, where he died 14 April 1883. He is buried in Happy Bend Cemetery, Conway Co, AR. He married first Victoria Tweedy in Pope Co, June 30, 1857. Child: Jackson Galveston. He married second, Eliza Dover, daughter of a Baptist minister. Child: Tilden Benson. He married third, Millie Jane Gann 22 Feb 1878. Children: Lorena Walker and Everett Allen. It goes on further. I could scan it and send it to you or hard copy. This was under the family of Rial Tucker. Uner J.L. Turner page 455 - Zack Turner - son: J.L. Turner - who married Cynthia Brooks. Children: Ben, who married Mattie Dover, etc There isn't much info there.

I think I got this message confused as being someone from our list the other night with one of my posts. Thought I would forward it to the list just for the heck of it. I think the name could MAYBE be an interesting twist on Dover from way back. What does anyone else think? Sharon Dover Romanek -----Original Message----- From: Laura Haslacker <dixiegirl@earthlink.net> To: SE-TN-L@rootsweb.com <SE-TN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Saturday, January 09, 1999 10:40 PM Subject: [SE-TN-L] Gray,DeFur I am looking for information on a James DeFur, listed on the 1850 census of Marion Co. Tn. He was born in Georgia, but I don't know where. He married a Charlotte Gray, who I am assuming is also from Marion Co. but I don't know for sure. They had a daughter Mary DeFur, who married Francis M.Powell . Mary was born in 1832 in Marion Co., and died in 1902 in Marion Co. Tn. I believe that the name of James DeFur is spelled wrong on the 1850 census of Marion Co. If anyone has a copy of this census, I would appreciate a look-up. Thank you.
