    1. Re: [DOVER-L] Dovers in the Pruett's Chapel Cemetary, Ark
    2. Henderson Franklin Dover was my grandfathers younger brother. He was a bachelor who lived all his life in Chicago, Illinois. Franklin was a fairly common middle name in Bailey's family as was Leander and Byrd. It's interesting that Franklin and Leander are also common middle names with Lemuel Dover's sons, Bailey's younger brother. That suggests this naming pattern goes back to their father John Dover and his unknown wife. Dennis

    1. Re: [DOVER-L] Dovers in the Pruett's Chapel Cemetary, Ark
    2. This is the family of Bailey Appleton Dover and his wife Martha Ann "Patsy" Fielding. I've been to Pruett's Chapel several times. Bailey and Martha are not buried there. Bailey is buried in an ummarked grave in another location. Andrew L. & Tennessee Virgina Yates Dover are my 2nd great grand parents. J. B. Dover is John Bailey Dover. Caroline Malinda Dover, daughter of Bailey & Martha, was married to John Perry Phillips in Blount County, Alabama where Bailey, his sister Lucinda and father John Dover were living in the early to late 1860's. Bailey had a brother named Lemuel Dover who was in Alabama in 1850 and then went to Mississippi by 1860. Lemuel's wife Clementine and several of their children were in Arkansas sometime after 1870. Clementine was a widow in 1880. John Dover born about 1793 SC was last confirmed in 1870 Madison County, Alabama living with his daughter Lucinda and her family of Cooper Bennett. John Dover died by 1879 when his property in Blount was sold in Jackson County, Alabama by Cooper & Lucinda Dover Bennett. John paid almost $400 for the property in 1858 and it was sold for $25. Anyone know how old a pecan tree would be with a circumference of 10 feet 2 inches? There's one that big on John Dover's property that I saw in 1995 when I visited the property with Bobby Dover. 1. [DOVER-L] Augustus B. Dover
    2. Tom, I don't show Augustus B. Dover as the son of Augustus McDowell Dover but her sure fits by year born. I do agree that A. M. Dover is the son of Francis Marion Dover. Francis married Mary Bailey about 1830 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Augustus Bailey and Elizabeth Cloud who were married in Rutherford County in 1808. Francis Marion's in-laws are found on the same census page in 1840 Gilmer County, Georgia. There's a number of important Rutherford County messages in 1998 DOVER-L archives. I personally believe you will find the name of Francis' father in the Revolutionary pension application for Francis J. Dover found at: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/dov/DoverPens?read=2 I'm not suggesting that Francis J. Dover is his father .... it's probably somebody else named in the application. You have a number of descendants of Francis Marion on Dover-L. Dennis
