Great looks like we have 4 upgrades so far from the Dover/Dever group. More questions answered I would guess! Patricia, Thanks for the info. I just ordered the upgrade and hope it opens as many doors as the 25 marker test has. Max
The wording was wrong on this e-mail here - > > If there is a perfect match in the 37-markers there is a 50% probability > of a MRCA within the last 5 generations, and a 90% probability of a MRCA > within the last 5 generations. It should be "If there is a perfect match in the 37-markers there is a 50% probability of a MRCA within the last 5 generations, and a 90% probability of a MRCA within the last 16 generations." I have already ordered the refined test for my father. He is a 24/25 match with someone of the Devine surname also from Donegal, Ireland. I am hoping that the Devine will also do the upgrade and we will see where we stand. I am so glad they are offering this!! Patricia

In 1820, Samuel Dover was in Edgefield, SC; his next door neighbor was an Enoch Brazil. That same year, a younger Enoch Brazele was in Pendleton SC. Enoch Brazeal, Sr. was in Abbeville in 1800. In 1810, he was in Edgefield, p. 37. Also on p. 37 was a Benjamin Hagwood (this might be Hagood and related to the family whose estate mentioned William Dover). On p. 38 was a Seth Howard who shows up later in Carroll County, GA. On p. 43 was a James Youngblood. Enoch (age 40-50) was in Anderson, SC in 1830, p. 133; Cooper Bennett was on p. 132; Hugh Dover was on p. 122. I don't know that this makes any difference, but just noticed the two Enoch Brasil (numerous spellings) near Dover ancestors and thought I would pass it along.
Dennis when I go to your page with the pretty trees, all the info is black. Is there something else I need to do. How is the weather there. Wet windy and cold here today. I made a trip to the VA up in Tn today, and it rained all the way there. Let me know whats going on with the DNA. There has been some speculation on the Genealogy-DNA mailing list that Family Tree DNA may be coming out with a 37 marker test in the near future. If that is the case they said it may bring the test to the Most Recent Common Ancestor to 5 generations. I can see how this would benefit this group that seems to have many common descendants. Will keep you posted if I hear anything. Patricia
I ran across this on the following link: Genealogy Data Has anyone heard of Dixia Dover? Lemmon, Peter Jr. Birth : ABT. 1752 probably Orange Co.,NC Death : OCT 1816 Sumner Co.,TN Gender: Male Family: Marriage: BEF. 1777 Spouse: Dove, Dixia Gender: Female
The latest DNA results for Walter Dever and Marjorie's brother Tony have been uploaded. I've updated the notes for the Understanding DNA Distances link too. http://www.dovertree.com/pages/5/index.htm
I have the results of my brothers last 13 markers, and we match those 13 exactly with Dennis, Charles Raymond and Max. I have a 12 marker one step mutation with Max, Charles Raymond and Francis Jr. (Francis Jr. didn't do the last 13 markers, I believe?)--all descendants of Francis J. Dover. I believe I am a descendant of Hezekiah, brother to Francis J., but hopefully the tests for Wm. Simpson, Francis Marion and Michael Dover descendants will help many of us firm up (or not) our lines.
Learned something new about the DNA results for the 25 marker set. I received an e-mail from DNA this morning saying that I had a new match at 99.9 percent with Marjorie's brother. We were a "probably not connected" on the 12 marker set with a distance of two, but the message this morning said that a match in one of the last three columns (one of the last three columns - 23, 24 or 25) of the 25 marker test establishes a 99.9 percent probability of a most recent common ancestor. This is exactly what happened between me and Max and Ed Dover when we were a "possible" one mutant connection on just the 12 marker test. Anyone who appears within two mutants on the 12 marker test with someone else should upgrade to the 25 marker set. Makes all the difference in the world. -----Original Message----- From: Marjorie Stansel [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, December 08, 2003 8:08 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Dover] DNA Matches I have the results of my brothers last 13 markers, and we match those 13 exactly with Dennis, Charles Raymond and Max. This is James Dover of 1850 McMinn Co., TN. I think he's in Gilmer Co., GA in 1840. I also think he's Zephaniah's son. Marjorie Stansel wrote: > James Dover is listed in the indices as James Diver. Under William Dover there is also listed << Mattie Dover 21 Land Lady b SC >>. I have no idea what her relationship was to William Dover or James H Dover and I really wonder what the "land lady" occupation might mean. This William Dover matches the William Dover s/o John Dover / Elizabeth __? that came out of York Co, SC. He was not in York Co in the 1860 census. William Dover s/o John & Elizabeth was b 1829 d 1919. Would mean William was maybe md more than once looks like if this were the same William and Mattie was a wife, but he is quite a bit older than Mary (Whittice) Dover so would certainly be possible. 1850 YORK CO, SC (DD notes) Page 284A John Dover 65 [1785] SC (York) Laborer Elizabeth 65 [1785] SC (York) Mahala 30 [1820] SC (York) Frances (f) 27 [1823] SC (York) William 22 [1828] SC (York) Willis 17 [1833] SC (York) Joab Price 22 [1828] SC (York) Whitfield Co, GA marriage records -- William M.
