Does anyone on the list know if this is the same person who is listed as Henry Putnam Dover in the 1900 census that Terry Jackson posted to the list a while back? If so he and his wife and what looks to be a child are buried in the Corinth Cemetery, , Cullman County, Alabama. I am looking for some info on the death certificates I am posting and ran across this. http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/data/al+index+231740361897+F Dover, Zula M., b- 6/3/1913 d- 1/8/2001 Dover, Hughey P., b- 11/1/1895 d- 9/17/1981 "Our loss is heaven's gain" "US ARMY WWI" Dover, Edward, b- 7/10/1946 d- 7/9/1956 "Asleep in Jesus" Sharon Dover Romanek Primary e-mail: [email protected] Secondary e-mail: [email protected] Researching: Romanek, Gucwa, Dover, Shrader, Tyner, Johnston, Williams, Edge, Smith, Kirksey, Demers, Murphy, Allen It's 2003... I recently got some more death certificates from Alabama and thought I would share the information with the list in case it will help anyone. Please, if you know more about these people or their families, share it with the rest of the list. This is how we can help each other. If anyone would like copies of these I am more than willing to share them as attachments via e-mail. This is all I have the time to do right now. I do have a few more. This should be who I have as Madison M. Dover II. He shows up as Matterson in census records, and as M.M. Dover, so I am not sure what the F is all about, but there IS an F. on the death certificate. Death Certificate # 26734 Place of Death Cullman, Alabama M.F. Dover Male, white, married Age 57 yrs, 8 mos. 18 days Date of birth: April 2, 1868 Occupation: Farmer Birthplace: Ga. Name of father: M. Date of death: Dec. 20, 1920 Cause of death: Tuberculosis Place of burial: Corinth December 22, 1920 I imagine the person giving some of the information on this was not sure. There are multiple locations of birth for his parents through multiple census records. Madison's seem to be consistently Ga. though. =========== I REALLY MAY be wrong on this one but I will say what I THINK I see on this one. It is a very hard document to see. I scanned it at very high resolution and turned it to a negative and everything could think of and it is still almost impossible to see. I did this thinking before I looked up a census record, so what I think was not influenced. Death Certificate: 2124 Place of Death: Winston County, Alabama Full Name: Dovie (LAURA) Dover-LAURA is what I THINK I see Sex: Female??? Race: ? Age: 12 mos. 7 days????? This could also say 2 months. It is hard to tell Date of birth: ??? I see no entry Birthplace: Winston ??? I assume this means Winston County. I find no town named Winston Name of Father: J.??? Dover Birthplace of Father: Winston?? Maiden name of Mother: A.??????? Birthplace of Mother: Winstson?? Informant: J. Dover Date of Death: Jan 10-1920 Cause of Death: Unknown No location of burial or date looks to be filled in. I looked in the 1920 Winston County, Alabama census and only find one family with a male in it with the initials J. He would be the right age to be a father at 22. His wife is Beulah and they have one 11 month old child and boarder named Bellzora M. Dover age 14, but no other children. His name is Janes in the index. It almost looks to me like it says Junior, or Juner. The infants name is Ida E. Does anyone know who this family is? I do not find them in the 1930 census. They are a white family. ================ I am leaving out one fact on the below on purpose. If anyone feels they are connected to this family and wants to know more, please contact me privately. It has to do with the cause of death. I do not feel right putting it in this message where it may hurt someone. Death Certificate: 311 Full name of deceased: C. T.? Source: 1920 McIntosh County, Oklahoma Census ED 40 Page # 14A IM 27 This image is VERY hard to read, so there is a lot of room for error here. I will do the best I can. If anyone can fill in the blanks please do share with the list. Some of these names are from a census index I found on line, so they are not necessarily correct. They are too hard to read for me to argue with the index. Some of this I will also use the 1930 to compare to since this is so very hard. I will try to post the 1930 later. This is NOT the same Frederick Dover / Margaret __? that came out of Buncombe Co, NC. So, looks like Old Bailey knew both Fred's who before DNA we had always thought were probably unconnected. This DNA match with Fred / Margaret was a big surprise.
The 37 marker results just came out for Paul Dover in East Tennessee. Paul is a descendant of Michael & Malinda Dover in north Georgia after 1830. The following shows Paul's results compared with all the other participants in each of the three DNA tests. Please remember that you "can" match by being one off on the 12 marker, two off on the 25 marker and three off on the 37 marker. Bailey Dover of old is like DNA Max Dover and others of today. They were/are in the eye of a hurricane and they should be followed closely :-) Terry, here's the 1830 and 1840 census for Bailey Dover. The first known deed of purchase by Bailey Dover was Lot 96 in the 5th District of Rabun County 1/1/1825. He was in Buncombe County, North Carolina in 1820. He did own a lot of property in Rabun Co. over the years. The deeds you posted along with Sharon's that show Dover's on lots 52, 53 and 54 have me intrigued. This is NOT fact, but looking at the land lot maps for both Rabun County and the above lots in Habersham County seem to place Bailey Dover on lot 96 in Rabun County just 3.7 miles from Lots 52-53-54 in Habersham County. The lots in Habersham County are east of Batesville and near a place called Unicoi? Lake that doesn't seem to exist on USGS maps. Does this mean anything ... maybe today's DNA proves something they didn't know. 1830 Rabun County, Georgia M19-20 Enumerated November 9, 1830 Page 222 Bailey Dover 30-40 [1790-1800] 0000100000000-0000010000000 Female 40-50 [1780-1790] 1840 Rabun County, Georgia M704-49 509th District Page 212A Frederick Dover 30-40 [1800-1810] 1302010000000-0101010000000 Female 30-40 [1800-1810] Female 40-50 [1790-1800] Female 20-30 [1810-1820] Male 15-20 [1820-1825] Male 15-20 [1820-1825] Male 05-10 [1830-1835] Male 05-10 [1830-1835] Male -5 [1835-1840] Notice the older females this census. I still suspect that this is Frederick & Margaret Dover from Buncombe Co., NC in the 1830 census next door to Jeptha Dover, John Dover and Elijah Dover. If so, this is the family line that has a perfect DNA match with the family of Francis J. Dover. http://www.co.habersham.ga.us/html/taxc/fifa.html A property tax fi fa* is a lien placed against a piece of property for failure to pay taxes when due. By law, it may be assessed against the property as early as 30 days after the due date. It may be recorded in the office of the Clerk of Court once the taxpayer has received a 30-day notice of such action. Because a fi fa indicates a late payment or non-payment of a bill, it may affect the credit standing of the property owner(s). Therefore, prompt payment of property tax bills, like any other bill, should be taken seriously. In addition, the fi fa increases the amount due by $6.50 for bills $100 and under and $10.00 for bills over $100. If a fi fa has been recorded in the Clerk's office, it is marked "Cancelled and Satisfied" whe the tax bill (including accrued late fees) is paid, but it is still left on the books as a matter of public record. *Literally, "fieri facias", meaning "cause it to be done". Another term is "execution". This is a judicial writ directing the sheriff to satisfy a judgment (such as unpaid delinquent taxes on real or personal property) from the debtor's property.
