    3. Do we know for sure who Hilliard's father and mother are? I am trying to put together some of the WWI records with the census I have posted and get them in the right family files. I see the part where Visa is his mother but who was she married to, and who was his father? Is this one of our areas where we need more info to go on? Also, are Visa, Vicy and Dicie the same person? 3. This Robert was my G Uncle. His Parents were John and Naomi Dover, After Naomi died John moved to Cocke County to be closer to his son Robert and his brother Gus, in 1911 he married the Mary L. shown in the 1920 TN Cocke County census. Our family records show that Roberts wives were sisters and Robert maried Mary after Thula's death. I hope this helps. 3. This is either an house with two families living in it or something. Luther and family is in the house with the Finch/Linch M. Dale. Anyone know who Luther is the son of? The only one I find in 1880 is the son of a John and Elizabeth Dover and is two months old. The one below would be about 9 by 1880. I will include that record too. I really think the name is Finch by the way. The L in Luther does look different than the first initial of the head of the house's first name. I suspect if you look at the birth locations of the Dales and their children, and then Luther's wife that this may be Molly's family they are living with. 3. I am wondering if the below Harrison Dover in Marjorie's information is who I have as Harris Dover born ca. 1879, son of Harmon Dover & wife Ruth Hall, also of Alabama. What I show for him from one of Terry's previous posts is: 1880 Cherokee Co., GA 6-19-1880, Salacon Dist. Harmon Dover, 27, GA SC GA Ruthy, 27, IL IL IL Saphronia, 10, MO GA GA William, 4, GA GA GA Harris, 1, AL GA GA In the WWI draft cards database this one who I THINK is the same Marjorie posted is referred to as General Harrison Dover. The dates from Marjorie's post do not match what shows on this draft card so may be a total other Harrison. This one claims a wife and two children as dependants, is married, was born 11-15-1886? Molton, Alabama, and shows a residence of Rt. 5, Ellis, Texas. OH! this one is making my head spin! Sure are a lot of Lucinda names in the Dover family. At least this was not another John. I cringe anymore when I see one of those. This is about 30 miles from Chattanooga and where I went to college. It is a very church oriented area with many national headquarters for various churches housed there at this time and I think during that time too. I know two for sure were centered there at that time because my grandparents were involved with both of them at different times. Some of the religious organizations there in the 70's were considered to be a little controversial. Most of the organizations I knew much about were very strict Pentecostal in nature. 3. Yes, but there are events that take place outside of surnames. For example adoptions - where possibly a child's parent's die and they move in with their sister's family and then take on that surname. There are neighbors that raise children as their own, and children born out of wedlock and their mothers marry someone with a different surname and there are many more examples of how your relatives are not always carrying your surname. I think it likely that these events show up in anyones family and it never hurts to look into it further. Patricia ----- > Here's why I have ignored the matches with other surnames.
