    3. I've been trying to research Francis J. Dover's Revolutionary War service and records. In doing so I ran across a book (title is below) that gives some hints of where to check stuff out. I'd be interested if anyone has access to any of the microfilm rolls listed in this passage. If anyone has any records of Francis J's service, I'd be more than happy to look at it. Almost all of these records were later microfilmed and made available to the public in the United States Archives. Muster rolls, returns, pay lists, guard reports, and other records showing the military service of persons in particular organizations were reproduced as Revolutionary War Rolls, 1775-1783 (M246). By far, the most valuable records for the genealogist or military historian are the Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty-Land-Warrant Application Files (M805) and Selected Records For Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty-Land-Application Files (M805). These two microfilms provide the details of military service and personal data. A name index was created and titled Special Index to Numbered Records in the War Department Collection of Revolutionary War Records, 1775-1783 (M847). Another listing of the war participants is the General Index to Compiled Military Service Records of Revolutionary War Soldiers (M860). These are the two microfilms that the researcher should be! gin with in tracing a Revolutionary War participant. Another microfilm of major value is titled Lists of North Carolina and South Carolina Troops and of Officers and Men of Continental Organizations Raised from More Than One State, 1775-1783 (M853 Roll 16). Letters, receipts for pay, supply returns and other records of miscellaneous character were reproduced as Miscellaneous Numbered Records (The Manuscript File) in the War Department Collection of Revolutionary War Records, 1775-1790's (M859). 2. Thanks for the information--I didn't have much about Madison, Jr. except his birth and death date in 1920 and that he died of TB. Do you have his death certificate? It might state how long he was ill before he died. It is possible that he was in a regional hospital that specialized in treatment of Tuberculosis and was missed on the 1920 census. I know in Georgia, the Battey Hospital in Rome, GA and the hospital at Milledgeville were places where they treated TB patients. 3. Marjorie, Again thanks for posting this to the list. Roy Cotnam was the 1st husband of Ara Dover. He was a Circuit Minister or Traveling Minister. He and Grandpa John Franklin Dover preached "Brush Arbors". Leota was not the daughter of Roy & Ara but was born from another relationship he had with someone else. I do not know all the details but she was not Ara's natural child. I will look at the info for Roy as soon as possible. I am not able to do so now and would like to see it. Ara and Roy divorced. She married again to a Peter Gabel b. September 03, 1907-October 1976 Fresno, Fresno Co, Ca. Ara was born April 06, 1890 & died August 18, 1956 Fowler, Fresno County, California. She could preach a sermon in a second from what I heard of her and was tough as nails. She went hunting for one of her brothers in a brothel at one time. :-) A niece who had just gotten her drivers license went with her and was sworn to secrecy. The niece is still living and told me about it. Said Ara was! something else. I have not been able to find Fred and Martha in 1930 either despite hours of looking for them. Edna just died within the last few years. I got to meet her and ask her several things but her memory was fading at that time. She did tell me a few things. She never knew W.A. Dover or remembered hearing of him. She knew Henry Anderson and use to ride with him on his wagon to peddle vegetables, wares etc. He was a Huckster. None of the children of Fred & Martha are still living. Below is what I know of them. I knew several of them when I was a little girl growing up in Chattanooga. Allen Davis who did the funeral for Roy McNabb was the same Minister who married my parents in 1953. I hope some of the helps and that it will make it to the list. There is a LOT of info here for those who want it. 1. Edna Adina Mcnabb b. September 08, 1916, Creed Town, Alabama d.
