Died: June 17, 1913, drowned off Sable Island when the Schooner "Olympia" was struck by the liner "Sagamore". Six men were lost, eight survived. Gloucester Daily Times June 19, 1913 "He was a native of Yarmouth County and has a grown up family, it is understood, in Nova Scotia. His wife died several years ago. At the firm of Sylvanus Smith & Company, nothing is known of the man. He has a niece in this city, it us understood." His name is on the Cenotaph (Fishermen's Memorial)in Gloucester.
