The Oxfordshire Family History fair is now only 6 weeks away and one of the services we are providing on the day includes help with interpreting old photographs and military items. Graham Bandy of Living Military History has suggested that we remind visitors to come armed with their items: Graham says: "Many people have lots of old family photographs and it is difficult to align a person with a photograph. Fashions change as do military uniforms. Uniforms change at set dates and once you know the basics you can start identifying your own. I will help you with this "dark art”. People are encouraged to bring their own ORIGINAL photos for identification and dating as they hold a mass of information to the trained eye and although I will give basics to (a very good) high resolution scan, I cannot guarantee anything from copies. Of course I am happy to look at and decypher any military items too…” A reminder too that we have our Wills expert Dave Beames who manages the transcriptions of Oxfordshire wills with us again so please do bring along any that you have. So that’s Saturday 7th October at The Marlborough School Woodstock OX20 1LP. Visit www.ofhs.org.uk/fair for details of the day, directions and stallholders. Angie Trueman OFHS Fair Organiser
