Lister: I have been looking for a baptism for Diana Bush d/o James and Ann Bush, Guss. All Saints. Her burial on 12 May 1838 indicates she was 26 years of age. She married James Ferret(t) 24 Nov 1832. I've related her to James and Ann through her son Henry Ferret(t) who is found living with them in the 1841 census. I've not been able to find her bap on Ancestry, FindMyPast, FamilySearch nor the Dorset OPC site. Any help most appreciated Catherine
Catherine James and Ann Bush seem to have baptised several children in Gussage All Saints in the late 1790s up until 1806, Anne, George, Sarah, Henry and Briant. Then William was baptised in Cranborne in November 1810. So it would seem that James and Ann were on the move before Diana was born. There is a reference also to James being from Holwell, but there are no Bush baptisms there. It may well be that in the process of moving Diana's baptism was overlooked. I think non-conformity is unlikely, given all of the above baptisms, but of course a possibility. You may want to continue to trawl through Parish Registers of surrounding parishes, starting from Cranborne, but I think you may well be looking in vain unfortunately. I'm sure you have tried, but consider searching for Dinah rather than Diana, it was the more usual spelling at the time. Where did you find Henry Ferret living with James and Ann in 1841? I can't locate that record.
