Hi Warwick, Apologies for crashing into your conversation with Margot. I also have in my family tree your John Seymour, baptised 8 July 1770 in Stalbridge, and married Edith Jean(e)s in Stalbridge on 20th September 1795. However, I have Edith Jean(e)s baptised in Stalbridge on 7 Nov 1769. A Stalbridge baptism seems more likely for Edith Jean(e)s as the marriage took place in Stalbridge and not High Littleton (which is near Bath), which would have been expected if she had been born there. Also I cannot find any Jean(e)s baptisms in High Littleton around 1770 on either FreeReg or FindMyPast, although their transcripts may, of course, be incomplete.
