After nearly 40 years of searching I think I may have finally identified my William MABEY who moved to Hampshire, married there in 1721 and left literally hundreds of descendants in the Southampton/New Forest/Romsey area. Because of the prolific number of Mabey's in Dorset, I have always considered that he was originally a Dorset man. One of William's children was named Barnard and William did spend some time in Swanage where another Barnard was married. I had always considered that this might have been a brother. I have now discovered that a Barnabas/Barnard Mabey was having children in Milton Abbas 1695-1707, one of whom was Barnabas and another Willes. Their other son Henry appears to be the only one who remained in the village. My questions are: has anyone done any research on this particular branch of the Mabey family? Does anyone have any information about the original village of Barnabas/Barnard Mabey - he wasnt born in Milton Abbas. Kind regards Sandra
