I know he married CHARLOTTE HARVEY on 2 nov 1802 in Bridport but i'm trying to find out if there was a name of his or hers father on marriage certificate that could help further my search of this family. Dear Karen, Here is the transcription of George's marriage in 1802 (from the parish register held at DHS). 2 November 1802 George SHORT & Charlotte HARVEY (signed with her mark X) Place: Bridport, Dorset Witnesses: George & John CURME. No father's names listed Info: Dorset FHS (via Find my Past). This would probably be too early for the father's names to be on the record, this happened after 1837 when civil registration began and the details were required to issue the marriage certificate (unless the vicar was paricularly precise and added extra detail about his parishioners in the register). No luck finding a baptism for George, maybe sks will do a look up at DHS for you.
