    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: ausleans1 Surnames: Short, Harvey, Gerrard Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.dor.general/6229.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Karen. The early Dorset records unfortunately don't record the parents names on Marriage registrations - no 'certificates' were issued back then either. To my knowledge, BDM certificates began from Sep 1837 onwards. (I've attached a sample for you of an early (1803) "Parish Record" from nearby Burton Bradstock). If George &/or Charlotte were still alive in 1841 there might be a parent or other relative living with them that might give some clues - of course they (parents) would be in their late 70-80's by then. Also, I noticed the surname "Gerrard" in your posting. Where does this name come into the family? I have many Gerrard's in my tree! Sorry I couldn't be of more help. 3. I tried to reply using the URL given, but got an error message from the site (yes, I did check I had the whole URL, despite the split line), so I am replying direct to the list as the only option left. The comment about Gerrards in the tree also applies to me, so we may have a link. Incidentally, the BMD registers started in July 1837. The first GRO index of the is for the September quarter, which covers July, August and September.
