Hi, I'm descended from Eli BRIDLE (born about 1812 in Halstock) and Matilda CLEAL (b. about 1816 in Chedington). They married in Fordington, Dorchester in 1846 and eventually ended up in Swindon, Wiltshire. Their son Emmanuel BRIDLE (born 1847 in Dorchester) married Sarah Elizabeth GALLAGHER (born about 1866, most probably in Yeovil) in 1888 in Swindon, Wiltshire. I believe that the BRIDLE / GALLAGHER line could be a gypsy / traveller family. If anyone has any links to these families or has any information on BRIDLE, GALLAGHER or CLEAL in these parts of Dorset, or even anything on gypsy / traveller families in Dorset please drop me a line.
