    3. I am seeking to make contact, and to share CHAMEN family history notes, with any descendant or researcher of the family of my cousin, John CHAMEN. John CHAMEN was baptized in Godmanstone, Dorset, 1798. John married Jane (possibly Jane Charlotte Swyre). They farmed in North Street, Charminster, Dorset. John died in Q1 of 1858, and Jane died in Q4 of 1872, both in Dorchester district. By the 1871 census, Jane 70, widow, was living with son Richard, at his farm in Charminster. John and Jane had issue, including: a. John CHAMEN, born in 1826, in Bradford, Dorset, bp. in Charminster, Dorset, 1828. In 1854, in Tasmania, Australia, John 25 married Eliza Anne KELLAWAY. They returned to England, in 1858 / 59.. John died in 1872, in Tasmania. John and Eliza had issue. b. George CHAMEN, bp. 1829, received in Charminster 1831. George started as a brewer’s assistant in Charminster. By the 1881 census, George 57, single, was a brewer, living in Brewery, Richmond, Surrey, England. c. Richard Tewkesbury CHAMEN, born in Charminster about 1835. By the 1861 census, Richard T. CHAMEN 25, single, was a farmer, living on North Street, Charminster, Dorset. In 1865, in Lymington district, Hants, Richard married Mary PEARSE. For the 1881 census, Mary 40 widow was a farmer, living on Cerne Road in Charminster, with five surviving children. Mary died in the early 1880s and the five surviving children were brought up by their uncle and aunt, William and Emma (nee Chamen) MAYO, in Friar Waddon. Richard and Mary had issue. d. Emma CHAMEN, born in Charminster 1837. Emma CHAMEN 22, on May 3rd., 1859, in Charminster, Dorset, married her second cousin William MAYO 25. William first farmed 600 acres in Charminster (census of 1861) and, later, moved to farm in Friar Waddon in the parish of Portesham, Dorset. William and Emma had issue. Best wishes. Peter Ferreira Toronto, Canada.
