    3. Is there anybody out there descended from, or researching, my ancestor, William MAYO, a farmer of Little Piddle Farm, in Puddletown, and of Poxwell Manor Farm, both in Dorset, England, in the 1800s? William MAYO was born in Friar Waddon, Dorset in 1800. In 1831, in Piddlehinton church, William MAYO of Puddletown married Rebecca STONE (1809 – 1883). William was a yeoman farmer in Little Piddle (in Puddletown) till about 1833; from about 1834, William was a yeoman farmer of 1,300 acres in Poxwell Manor Farm, Dorset (censuses of 1841, 1851 and 1861). William was a churchwarden in Poxwell from 1834 to 1867. For the 1871 census, William 71, a retired farmer, was enumerated in Charminster, with Rebecca 62. William 78 died in Charminster in 1878. Rebecca MAYO 74 died in 1883 in Dorchester district. William and Rebecca had issue, including: 1. William MAYO, born in Little Piddle, in Puddletown, Dorset, 1833. William farmed in Charminister, till about 1866; after about 1866, William was a farmer of 1,320 acres, living in Friar Waddon Farm House, in the parish of Portesham. William MAYO died in 1893 and was buried with m.i. in Portesham St. Peter’s churchyard. Emma died in 1925 and was buried with m.i. in Portesham St. Peter’s churchyard. William and Emma had issue. 2. John CHICK 75 died in 1907 and was buried with m.i. in Compton Valence churchyard; Jane CHICK 90 died in 1930 and was buried in the same grave as her husband. John and Jane had issue. 3. John MAYO, baptized in Poxwell in c. 1844. In the late 1860s, a yeoman farmer, John took over Poxwell Manor Farm from his father. In 1868, in Dorchester district, he married Rosa MANLEY. They farmed Poxwell Manor Farm, from before 1871 to after 1881. Rosa died in 1887, in Wimborne district; John 69 died in Wimborne, in 1913. John and Rosa had issue. 4. Sarah (Sally) MAYO, born in 1847, in Poxwell. In 1867, in Warmwell church, Dorset, Sarah married Joseph Fowler ROPER. Joseph was a yeoman farmer: in Dorset and Wilts. 3. Peter Whilst I have connections to the Piddle Vallet, I am sorry I cannot help with this particular line, but do you have any Wiltshire or Gloucestershire connections? Have 5 Generations of MAYO commencing with a birth in CRUDWELL Wiltshire in 1802. Other names include BEAZER, PULLEN, BLAKE and others.
