I am seeking information on Mary Matthews, I have been told in a couple of places that she was married to my g grandfather Robert Hood b. 1823 Blandford, Dorset. Robert was a watch maker. Dear Arlene, I think you may be a generation out and Mary MATTHEW may be your G G Grandmother. (i.e the Mary who had your G Grandfather Robert b 1823), as there is the following marriage: 22 December 1823 - Robert HOOD of Boldre to Mary MATTHEW at Blandford Forum. (Info: Dorset FHS via FMP) and (as Lyn has already quoted), the following baptism: Robert Hood Christening: 31 DEC 1823 Blandford-Forum, , Dorset, England Parents: Father: Robert Hood Mother: Mary It looks like they married just 9 days before their son was born! The 1851 census (which Lyn has already given you), shows that both Roberts were watchmakers.
