I have replied separately but thanks again to members who have sent information on my GRAY family. My Grandmother, Annie Gray was born 1881, Ashmore, and she married Frederick Edwin COLLINS in 1908 at Richmond Hill Congregational Church, Christchurch, Bournemouth. I wonder if anyone on the list can tell me if this Church still exists please. I think my Grandmother was born in either Broadridge, or Broadedge cottage, Ashmore and I also wonder if anyone knows if this cottage is still there? I would love to find pictures of these places for my Canadian born family! Dorset villages are so beautiful! Regards to all, Elaine McLean Mission, BC, Canada
Dear Elaine, You may be interested in this: There is a photo circa 1910 of Bournemouth Central Gardens looking towards the Monte Dore Hotel ( now the Town Hall), which also shows the Richmond Hill Congregational Church (now United Reformed) on the right - see www.realbournemouth.com It shows just how beautiful Bournemouth was before mass development!! Also sometimes Google Earth is a good way to find out if buildings are still there.
