    3. I am seeking to make contact, and to share MAYO family history notes, with any descendant or researcher of the family of my ancestor, William MAYO (1753 - 1836). As best I can determine, William MAYO senior, was born and baptized in 1753, in Frome St. Quintin, Dorset. William MAYO “of Fryer Wadden in Portisham”, Dorset, married Sarah BIRT (1777 – 1809) in Tarrant Hinton, Dorset, in 1798. William and Sarah MAYO raised five known sons in Friar Waddon, Dorset. Sarah died there, aged 32, and was buried in Tarrant Hinton in 1809, from Friar Waddon. Later, retired, William senior, yeoman, lived in Piddlehinton, Dorset, and died there in 1836, at the age of 84, and was buried in Piddlehinton, St. Mary. William senior and Sarah had issue: 1. William MAYO junior, born in Friar Waddon, Dorset in 1800. In 1831, in Piddlehinton church, William MAYO of Puddletown married Rebecca STONE (1809 – 1883). William was a yeoman farmer in Little Piddle (in Puddletown) till about 1833; from about 1834, William was a yeoman farmer of 1,300 acres in Poxwell Manor Farm, Dorset. William 78 died in Charminster in 1878. Rebecca 74 died in 1883 in Dorchester district. William junior and Rebecca had issue. 2. George MAYO, born in Friar Waddon, Dorset, approximately 1802. In 1833, in Wareham, George MAYO of Bloxworth married Sarah LAURENCE. George and Sarah raised their family in Bloxworth, Dorset. Sarah died in 1851 in Wareham district. Later the family moved to Piddlehinton Manor, Dorset, where George 59, widower, was a yeoman farmer of 542 acres in Piddlehinton at the 1861 census. In the census of 1871 in Piddlehinton, George 69 was a landowner and farmer of 950 acres. George MAYO, late of Manor House, Piddlehinton, died and was buried in Piddlehinton in 1872, aged 70. George and Sarah had issue. 3. John MAYO, born in Friar Waddon, Dorset. John was buried in Portesham in 1806. 4. Henry MAYO, born in Friar Waddon, Dorset, in 1806. Henry was killed by lightning in Lewell, in 1830 and he was buried in Knighton West, St. Peter, Dorset. 5. Charles MAYO, born in Friar Waddon, Dorset, in 1808. Charles was a farmer in Little Piddle Farm in Puddle Town, Dorset. Charles never married. As a retired farmer he lived in Piddlehinton, Myrtle Cottage. He was buried in Piddlehinton 1874, aged 66. Best wishes. Peter Ferreira Toronto, Canada
