hello I wonder if any one can help i am trying to find out more details about the marriage of John Akerman to Betty in 1761 at Broadwindsor. Betty was born there about 1742. I am trying to find out the surname of the wife betty. John Akerman apparently was christened at Chideoak Dorset the son of lawrence and mary. If anyone can help i would be grateful. Dear Ellen, How do you know that John & Betty married at Broadwinsor in 1761? I know that their children were baptised there: Samuel (1762), John (1763), Mary (1766), Ann (1767), Ann (1772), Henry (1777) and Betty (1781) but their marriage doesn't appear to be listed at Broadwinsor. There is the following marriage at Stoke Abbott: John AKERMAN (of Bridport) to Elizabeth COLINGDON (otp) by licence on 18 December 1755 @ Stoke Abbott Witnesses: Arthur HANN & Susanna COLINGDON (Elizabeth signs Betty) (Stoke Abbott is less than 2 miles from Broadwinsor) What proof have you that John was baptised in Child Okeford and is the son of Lawrence & Mary?
