New to the list - I wonder if any list member has researched the POTTLE family of Wimborne Minster. The particular Pottle I'm interested in was christened (2 April 1809) JOHN RIDEOUTE POTTLE. He married (4 November 1835, Old Church, St Pancras, London) PHILADELPHIA GODDEN, from Sussex, who was six years his senior. I have so far failed to find these Pottles in 1841 and 1851. In 1861 Philadelphia was staying with her sister in Scotland - the census record does not state whether she was a widow (though it seems likely). Philadelphia Pottle is recorded as a widow in the censuses of 1871, 1881 and 1891 (the year she died in Keymer, Sussex) I'd be grateful for any information about John Rideoute Pottle's adult life - occupation, date and place of death, will, etc If any list member has an interest in this person, I'm happy to provide information on his wife Philadelphia's origins and later life.
