    3. I knew that there were at least three William Barnes born circa 1800 One was a vicar, one a farmer and mine who had worked in London as a civil servant. On retirement at the age of 60 he had returned to Dorset where he was born . He was on the 1861 census at Hazelbury Bryan aged 60 with wife Sophia, son George Barnes and grand daughter Catherine Bird. It is thanks to Vanessa that I now know that the 1886 death was not the one I was looking for. I should have remembered that my William was not found on the 1881 census. I now have to look for one between the 1871 and 1881 census. Regards Pat
