Does any one on the list remember a Catholic Girl's school that was in the road that bounded Poole Park .... cannot remember the name, it was in operation in the 1950-60's ...... thanks in advance .... Peter Hammett in UK
Hello Peter, The school you are looking for was St Joseph's Convent School, a private school. The 1950 Kelly's Directory describes it as a girls' high school. I remember it well as my mother worked in the neighbouring house and we could see over the high wall into the back garden from the upper floors. The convent closed a couple of years ago and has been demolished, I think. In more recent years it was a pre-school. The building stood on the corner of Parkstone Road and Churchfield Road. The Google references are for the Local Authority Catholic Schools in Poole.
