I have a whole batch of ancestors who for some reason or other decided not to register the births or baptise their offspring (which I know is unusual). One of which is my Great Grandmother born circa 1865. I'm hoping that it is just an error and she has been omitted from the Index and one day she will turn up. I was pinning my hopes on the DoVE project - but now that seems to have gone by the board! Thanks for putting me right. I was just trying to let Steph know that not all births are on the Index.
