As I found when looking through the volumes at the Dorset history center the surname Stevens or Stephens dosn't appear in the records for this parish (http://www.opcdorset.org/CharltonMarshallFiles/CharltonBaptisms1813-1852.htm). What I find strange is 3 individuals consistantly state they are born Charlton, Dorset in 1851, 1861 and 1871 so a total of 9 returns and yet there is no entry in the parish records.
