    3. Hello Diane, I can find anything to help with Benjamin's father. It is reasonably to assume that Benjamin died prior to 1841, there is no record on freeBMD for a Benjamin between 1837-1841, so again his death must be prior to September quarter of 1837. 1841 census has At Longfleet Poole Longfleet Road; Thomas MARGRIE; 30; Flax Dresser; Y; HO287-05 D10P23 Longfleet Road; Elizabeth MARGRIE; 35; ; Y; HO287-05 D10P23 Longfleet Road; Alfred MARGRIE; 12; Shoemakers App; Y; HO287-05 D10P23 Longfleet Road; Benjamin MARGRIE; 6; ; Y; HO287-05 D10P23 Longfleet Road; Elizabeth MARGRIE; 60; T***** Spinner?; Y; HO287-05 D10P23 Probably same family as in 1851 census, but with Thomas' mother in this household. 1851 census Bridport, piece 1861, 293 East Street MARGRIE, Thomas 43, Head, b1808 Bridport, Hemp & Flax Heckler. MARGRIE, Betty 50, wife, b1801 Bridport, Twine spinner MARGRIE, Benjamin 16, son, b1835 Poole, MARGRIE, John 9, son, b1842 Poole. 3. Thank you to all those that replied to my query both on and off list. I am now able to see where the Mythe cottages were situated in Mapperton in the late 19th and early 20th century, thanks to the old-maps link. 1. [DOR] Dorset families to the USA
    2. Maureen
    3. FamilySearch.org has started a beta version of their free website. Try checking beta.familysearch.org. It does include death records for many states. If you have any idea of the state, then you should try looking for individual state records. A lot of the information available in the United States is also available through paid sites such as Ancestry.com. Maureen USA Many of our Dorset folk emigrated to the USA, and ended their days there ..... does any one on the list know if the USA has the equivalent of the UK Free BMD list ..... I would like to track down some death certificates if possible .... Thks Peter Hammett in UK

The problem was, I ran out of time at the records office - PLUS the records that I DID get there led me onto new items, and I thought I'd follow up some of it online - need to check a few connections with people that I think are 'mine'. It willbe a while before I can get down to Dorchester again. ALSO there wer many that printed out rather poorly and thought I'd be able to confirm what I think is printed by checking the exact dates etc on ancestry. Very contructive, helpful post - thanks a lot Vanessa. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
