Hello I am trying to find details of Ettie Bowring, daughter of William Bowring and Eliza Travers. She was born c1892 in Upwey. I can't find an Ettie/Henrietta/Esther who will fit (is Ettie short for anything else?). I also checked in the Dorchester district. Could it be Matilda Alice [Dec 1891 dorchester] or Edith Millicent [Jun 1891 weymouth]? I don't have either of them in the tree currently, can anyone rule them out? Since I don't know her "real" name I am struggling to find out what happens to her ... Many thanks for any clues you can give me, Christel

Dear Win, This might be him: William ELLIOTT s/o William ELLIOTT baptised on 27 April 1766 at St. Mary & St Bartholomew, Cranborne. Cranborne is an adjecent parish to Sixpenny Handley (and they are 4 miles - about 6 1/2 km apart). There is also a burial at Sixpenny Handley as follows: William ELLIOTT of Newtown (aged 42) on 28 December 1814 This would make his year of birth abt 1772 (so unless the age is incorrect, not the one above) If you think that this is the burial of your William, then Mary was also born out of wedlock, (but would still be an Elliott) as that was now her mother's name. If it is him, they weren't married for long. Many Thanks to everyone who replied I keep going back to the 'opc' site as well as Ancestry and other sites as my ancestors were very unimaginative and used the same names for several generations along with several of their brothers and sister so you may end up with 4 to 6 Alfred's or William in a ten year or less period. But as I was told 20 odd years ago when I first started that this was a frustratingly addictive hobby, I now understand why. Maggi Hi Everyone I have an Eliza RIGGS born about 1849 to a William RIGGS AND Johanna WOODSFORD in Dorset around Puddletown or Blandford that I would like more information about. Eliza married my ancestor Alfred BILES in Dorchester in Jun 1872 and I picked up children from Free BDM but hoping that get more information on Eliza herself. Or has seen any of these people on census records. Emily Anne Stockley (1849), Edwin Stockley (1854), Eliza Stockley (1856), David Stockley (1860) and Jesse Stockley (1862). All were born at Corfe Castle, Dorset, England. All were children of Charles Stockley and Mary Ann Lloyd, and are all on the 1871 census record living at Upper Green, Tangley, Hampshire apart from Emily Anne who was in Andover, Hampshire working as a Domestic Servant. After the 1871 census record i can not find any record of them on the census records. I have also checked the burial index's for Tangley and surronding area at the Hampshire Record Office but there is no sign of any burials.
