    3. Hi Sheila - do you have certificates for this couple and/or the birth of Marion? Any other information on Marion? I don't see any good matches in the censuses after 1871 for Mary and none at all for Marion. I also don't see a good match for Mary in earlier censuses unfortunately. She is my ancestor, and was born in or near Fordingbridge, Hampshire. She married Samuel Sandy on September 9, 1705 in Fordingbridge. I have researched for information about her and her family before that time, but have been unable to find anything definite. There doesn't seem to be any information either about my ancestor, her husband, Samuel Sandy, who also just seems to appear out of nowhere in 1705. Any information would be appreciated! 3. Hi Please, does 'anyone' know anything about George Henry Richards and Mary Elizabeth W Beard (Beer/Bear) who married Q4 1871 Poole, Dorset. I believe they had a child called Marion Gertrude C Richards in Q4 1879 Cheltenham, Gloucestershire Mary was a servant in Stoke Damerel, Devon in 1871 census. George Richards 'could' have been a navel man. Thank you for taking the time to read this Sheila

I have looked at all the censuses and he does not use the 'Dicker' name in any but 1911. However it is used in his marriage to Ethel Arabella Taylor Mar 1903 Epsom 2a 22 and this cert would give fathers name. and it is used on his birth cert.Dec 1871 Bridport 5a 385. which would give both parents names. If you can only get one this is the one I would go for to get further back. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Richard W. Hinde
    3. Hello Roy, Thank you for the reply and the information. I've only glanced at the 1911 census so far and that was mainly for the Hinde surname at the Isle of Portland. Genealogy is mostly a winter past time as the farm and my business takes up the spring, summer and fall. My cousins Roger and Margaret Hood in Codicote were just in Portland for a week with a 'distant' cousin from Australia. They spent time at the DRO and walking in the ancestors footsteps. Thank you once again for the information and I will pass this on to Roger and Margaret. Just as a side note Susan was born 15 Feb 1872 from her birth certificate. Good to hear from you again and hope you are doing well. 1. [DOR] Missing men - look in WO97 to see if they enlisted
    2. Robert Hillier
    3. It is now possible to search, free, an online index for men who enlisted in the army and eventually were pensioned. The index gives names, date of birth and place of birth. Access to the full record is charged for, but the free index on its own is a potential goldmine if one is looking for men who disappear from the census for a while. You can access the index online at: http://www.findmypast.co.uk/chelsea-pensioners-service-records-collection-search-start.action I've checked it myself and it has interesting EYERS names from Dorset - I'm sure it will have plenty of other Dorset interest. I have no connection with the commercial enterprise concerned. Best wishes to all listers, Robert Hillier (still operating the Dorset EYRES Project)
