    3. Hi, I have had a closer look at the Swanage register and find that John and Jane had four children Tmothy 1772, George 1773, Charles 1775, all called in the register Haysham, but the fourth child Martin 1777 was called Haysom, there is a 10 year period in the register when the name Haysham is used instead of Haysom. Jane Phippard a widow married John Haysom 9/4/1771 Swanage, her maiden name was Bower, her first husband Samuel Phippard drowned with his brother at Winspit point. she originally came from Langton Matravers Dorset. 3. Hi, I have Haysom ancestors, and Haysham is a corruption of that name. I believe that Margarets parents were George and Ann, I have no marriage for them, but George Haysham was christened Swanage Dorset England 23/7/1773 the son of John and Jane. George and Ann also had a son George born 28/9/1800 in St Marylebon London [ Middlesex ] presumably he died and they called another son George in 1803. Regards Trevor

    1. [DOR] Dorset Coroners Reports
    2. Is there any knowledgeable member who can tell me if coroners reports for the Wareham and Dorchester areas still exist for the period 1845 - 1850, and where they may be found. Also which newspapers for that period would have served Wareham and Dorchester, that would have recorded events of note ?? Many thanks in advance ... Peter Hammett

This has been huge brick wall as I couldn't find him in the GRO from Sep 1837 onward. I hope you can find him. In the meantime I just ordered a birth certificate for Harriet Myalls born 1837, 4th Qtr, Blandford, Dorset, Vol 8, Page 12 to see if that can help me. Thank you very much for your valued assistance. 3. Ros I believe the original BTs are held in Chippenham at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre. The dates covered are from 1579-1880. If this is correct then this would be a bonus as most BTs for Dorset only date from 1721. I suggest you contact the WSHC to confirm. Contact details are available at: http://www.wshc.eu/ The BTs have been microfilmed by the LDS and so would also be viewable at your local FHC. Many places / houses have Firs in their names as Bournemouth is full of Pine Trees (It was famous in Edwardian times because people promenaded along the Pine Walks in what are now known as the Lower Pleasure Gardens. The Edwardians thought that the pine smell was good for the lungs and planted them everywhere throughout the borough!
