The only bad thing about the site is that you can't search using soundex so, whatever spelling you use, that is what it will search for. You may have to play around with it some. They are working on getting other counties put up. I hope yours is there. I was lucky as my lines were in Dublin. This site has both COI and RC registers. On does list his father as being John and a farmer. However, there are also mistakes on it. Such as the birth year for both of them was 1887. The age listed was 22. However, the year they got married was 1914. Last time I check 1914-1887= 27 not 22. It is a puzzle. thanks for you input. Being they got married in Belfast and not North Ireland where grandmum was from she also changed her name to NOLTY FROM McNulty. I am trying to learn about my grandfather. FREDERICK GEORGE ARCHER. I am thinking that he may have come from the Dorset area. He was in the British Army prior to WWI. I believe he was in the Dorset Regiment. Prior to marrying my grandmother he was stationed in the Soldiers Home in Belfast Ireland as he was either injured or became ill. I have learned he was possibly stations at one time in India. I have not childhood info on him. I do know he came to the United States between 1924 and 1930 or later. Does anyone have access to a directory of Dorchester who could give me some more information about this 1881 census entry. Catharine Burt,my wifes gt.gt.grandmother, is shown as a domestic servant living at a house in Durngate Street. The head of the household appears to be HARRIOT JANE CROSS,unmarried, age 52,and living on dividends. Also there is JESSIE MARIE CROSS niece, unmarried, age 26,teacher of music. Their names are not perfectly clear on the census form, but i don't think that these are far out, could anyone give me a bit more background about these people, and perhaps a complete address if possible,or a photo of the house would be great if not too much trouble. Thanks for your help, Bye from a chilly North Norfolk Richard. Richard Myhill richardmyhill43@btinternet.com

Bonjour Jean-Marie, The BIVRI (2nd edition) is a set of 16 searchable Cd ROMs which were compiled by the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), after they had scanned many British baptism & marriage records taken from original parish registers, (where access was kindly given either by the County Record Office or Church Diocese). The collection is not complete, but in some cases can be extremely helpful on tracking down elusive ancestors. I believe the records (and now including some burial records) have (or are being added) to their Record Search Pilot Website - see http://search.labs.familysearch.org for details. I also believe that there is now access from the main Family Search site also, together with some pages of scans of actual registers which you can browse & view. With regard to Robert WEBBER - I assume you mean his baptism record? - No official birth records were kept in England before 1837. The BIVRI gives his baptism details as follows: Robert WEBBER - s/o William & Jean WEBBER on 26 December 1773 @ Wootton Fitzpaine. FHL Film 1239261. (Please note that the names Jean / Jane were often interchangeable then). This would be all the detail in the original register at that time, but if you want a photocopy of the original page, SKS (some kind soul) would have to go to the Dorset History Centre and pay for one - you could try contacting them to see if you could pay for one over the phone. See www.dorsetforyou.com/archives . Otherwise you could contact your local LDS Family History Centre and order the film (see reference above) to view and copy there. He appears to have at least 2 sisters: Mary WEBBER d/o William & Jane WEBBER baptised on 21 July 1776 @ Wootton Fitzpaine Jane WEBBER d/o William & Jane WEBBER baptised on 14 June 1778 @ Wootton Fitzpaine (both on the same film as Robert) The only marriage that I have been able to find which might be Robert's parents (not confirmed) is: William WEBBER of Beaminster & Jane SYMES of Beaminster on 10 November 1767 @ Beaminster Witnesses were: John White & Henry Slade and William made his mark (therefore he was illiterate). (Information from Dorset Family History Society via Find my Past.) Beaminster is about 8 miles (12.5km) from Wootton Fitzpaine. If this is them, there may be at least one other child: William WEBBER s/o William & Jane WEBBER baptised on 22 January 1769 @ Beaminster (born on 20 January 1769) (Information also from Dorset FHS via FMP) I hope this helps and may I say - Je vous souhaite une bonne année. (I hope that's correct!)
