Enter Talbot Deane and see what comes up - you may find a connection. I note that these names crop up a lot in the West Dorset areas. Please also note Dorset has changed its borders frequently over the decades and you should consider adjoining Counties. Looks like a possible Quaker connection ? That really is a pain. 3. Hello Christel, Thanks for the reply. The will acknowledges Elizabeth (wife of Anthony Culverwell), Phillis (wife of Benjamin Parris), Mary (wife of John Bond), Jonathan, Joan, Deborah and Joseph as being children of Jonathan Dalliber senior. >From the Chardstock Web Museum site I have found the marriage of Elizabeth in 1763, and Mary in 1757. I have also found children of Phillis and Benjamin Parris indicating their marriage would have been around 1750. There is also a marriage of a Joan Dalliber to a John Bragg at Chardstock in 1773. Of the children the only baptism I found at Chardstock is that of Deborah in 1745. Joseph was joint executor of the will with his mother, inferring that he was adult in 1767, but the ages of the other unmarried children (including Jonathan junior) is a mystery Regards Peter ----- Original Message ----- From: "Christel Muncaster" <christelhelen@yahoo.co.uk> To: <dorset@rootsweb.com>; "Peter J Richardson" <pjrich.ntl@googlemail.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2011 1:39 PM Subject: Re: [DOR] Hannah Dalliber baptism - father not given on IGI Dear Peter Thank you for your message, which is very interesting. 3. Hello Peter, The school you are looking for was St Joseph's Convent School, a private school. The 1950 Kelly's Directory describes it as a girls' high school. I remember it well as my mother worked in the neighbouring house and we could see over the high wall into the back garden from the upper floors. The convent closed a couple of years ago and has been demolished, I think. In more recent years it was a pre-school. The building stood on the corner of Parkstone Road and Churchfield Road. The Google references are for the Local Authority Catholic Schools in Poole. 3. Hello list I am not sure whether Christel is still on the list - I came across this message through googling "Jonathan Dalliber". I have just obtained the will of a Jonathan Dalliber of Chardstock whom I believe to be an ancestor. The will was proved in 1767 and names one of his sons as being also called Jonathan, so this may or may not be the Jonathan who married Anne Bartlett in Melbury Bubb in 1778. I believe my own line is through Jonathan senior's daughter Mary who married a John Bond in Chardstock in 1757. It would seem that Jonathan senior moved to Chardstock from who knows where around 1745 (Deborah daughter of Jonathan and Jone [Joan] was christened in Chardstock in 1745 but none of their other children seem to have been baptised there).
