The name Dorris which I am interested in is in my opinion English/scottish/welsh origin which may have arrived from France with the Normans as names similar to this are common ie D'Oris. It could also have got to Ireland with King Williams mainly Dutch,Scottish, Hugeonet army in around 1690 or with subsequent Hugeonot arrivals to England and Ireland. The name does however appear to have been anglicised from the gaelic Dubhros in the Tyrone area of Ireland to Dooris and Doorish. In County Down, there is evidence that the name Dorris is of Scoth Irish descent, and I have found no link to those of Tyrone.
