John W. Dorris? I have been trying for years to find out who his parents were. I am a direct descendant. He was born in 1804 in NY City and he was married to Elizabeth Osmun who was born in 1806 in Flemington, NJ. They had two daughters, Margaret Jane Dorris and Elmira Dorris. The Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Westmoreland Tenn. has been transcribed and is on the web, it is in Sumner Co and is filled with Dorris. Our Dorris was married to William O Hopkins, Velva. Her father was George Dorris and he married a Hopkins after his wife died.
