    2. Susan Liedtke
    3. Debbie, you will probably continue to have trouble sorting that story out. It probably isn't true. Although families did travel in groups any story that starts out "seven brothers" needs to be looked at with suspician. Any story that purports to go back through the Romans to the Greek also needs to be looked at with a careful eye. Your best bet is not to worry about that far back and just work your line generation by generation. A lot has been written about the Dorris family, some of which may or may not be true. My particular line may or may not go back to William. I haven't with any feeling of certainty (others appear certain but there is a lack of proof) gone beyond John of Smith Co. TN. His son Josiah married Lucy Drury May 12, 1816 Smith Co. TN (my line.), he also had a son Thomas m Rachel Bland March 4, 1837 in Fulton Co. Ill. a daughter Rachel who m John Drury, a daughter Mary who married Stephen Yokum Feb. 29, 1829 in Marion Co., Ill. a son James and a son William. John may have been the John Dorris who married Mary Presley in Rockbridge Co. VA. though we haven't found proof of that.
