It is rumored in our family that 5 Donovan brothers left Ireland lived in NY and worked on the Erie Canal. The brothers then became seperated in NY. One of the brothers was my GGGF John Donovan. He was born in 1812 in County Cork Ireland. We have heard that his brothers remained behind in NY. We estimate that they would have immigrated somewhere between 1830-1840's. John Donovan then dettled in Harvard, IL area about 1850. Does anyone out there have a similar story? We do not know the names of the other brothers or there parents names.
