I was just in clonakilty about two weeks ago. Zillions of Donovans and O'Donovans in that area, especially in the area known as "Mountain Common." Charles Have you tried writing to the priest at Immaculate conception? His name is Msgr. O'Sullivan and he lives right across from the church on The Western Road. I am assuming he was Catholic? If not, then there is a Church of Ireland on Patrick's Hill, Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Ireland. If you wrote right to the priest there with no more than that address, I am sure you would get connected as it is such a small town. Well, for what it's worth. --- hfreeman@sktc.net wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to > this mailing list. > > Surnames: Donovan/Nagle > Classification: Queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/wJT.2ACEB/667 > > Message Board Post: > > Searching for Jerry Donovan b,1857 Clonaklity Cork, > Ireland. > Immigrated 1881, located Illinois with wife Julia > Nagle Donovan > and 3 or 4 childrenn. I was in Clonakilty a couple years ago -- there is a pub called Donovan's right in town and the fellow there (Mr Donovan) is interested in family history. In fact, there were meetings going on at the time in the pub planning the clan meeting of the Donovan family for the following year (that would be last year).
