Dear Mari, Regarding your message on DUNVAN, etc.. (shown below as the 2nd message) You mentioned that <Have you ran across this spelling?. M y father said his ancestors were from co Cork. What I have starts with is William marrying Dr Samuel Gay's daughter after they settled in Shenadoah Valley.then on to Christian Co. KY.where the land he was given was located.I just wish I could find out more . The Gays were easy. I have the spelling Donovan my dad's great Uncle.> I am curious regarding your DONVAN/DUNAVAN that was in the Shenandoah Valley and then went into Christian Co. KY. A I don't know that there's any connection at all but I suspect there could, possibly, be something. (Also, there is in my EARLE family a 4th marriage for a stepmother to a man named William CLEMENT listed below.) It was my JENNINGS' and EARLE's that were in Christian Co., KY before 22 Dec 1811 when my 3rd great grandparents married there. They were Kitty EARLE, born: abt. 1795 in VA, and Bailey JENNINGS, born: abt. 1789 in VA. Kitty EARLE was the daughter of Tabitha WILLIAMS, born: 1766 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond Co., VA, and her husband, Samuel EARLE, IV, (Sgt./Rev. War,) born: 1760 in Town Run, Fauquier Co., VA, (son of Elizabeth HOLBROOK, (2nd wife,) and husb., (Major) Samuel EARLE, III, born: 1692 in Westmoreland Co., VA, was 1st member of the House of Burgesses from Frederick Co., VA, (son of Phillis BENNETT and Samuel EARLE, II, (son of Bridget HALE, (1st wife,) and Samuel EARLE, I, (son of Mary SYMONS/SYMONDS, (1st wife,) and (Sir) John EARLE, whose 2nd wife was Mrs. Elizabeth ? CAUSEY (HOWELL) (CLEMENT,) (CAUSEY may or may not be maiden name or 1st husband's name, 2nd husband was ? HOWELL, 3rd husband was (Sir) John EARLE, and her 4th husband was William CLEMENT. ))) (Sir) John EARLE immigrated in 1649 through Maryland into Northumberland Co., VA. Bailey JENNINGS was the son of Rachel JORDAN and John JENNINGS, Sr., (RS,) (son of Sarah MOORE and Edward Salley JENNINGS, born: 1720 in Richmond Co., VA, (son of William JENNINGS, Jr., (son of Mary WILLOUGHBY and William JENNINGS, Sr., (son of John JENNINGS and Mrs. Margaret PAYNE (JENNINGS,) (EDRINGTON,) (daughter of Margrett ROBINSON?, (dau of Richard ROBINSON,) and John PAYNE,))) and William JENNINGS, Jr.'s wife was: Ann KELLY, born: abt. 1696 in VA, (daughter of (Captain) John KELLY, born: abt. 1660, (son of Penelope ? and Matthew KELLY,) and (Capt.) John KELLY's wife, Amy DONIPHAN, born: abt. 1662, (daughter of Amy/Amee/Aimee PARTRIDGE? aka RIVETT? and her husband, (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN, born: abt. 1640 in Plymouth, Devonshire, England, (parents: ??.) The spelling of DONIPHAN shows up in most or all of the descendants of his that I have found so far but I would imagine that his parents and/or ancestors and other descendants of theirs have a different spelling as I haven't found anything, so far, for any ancestors with this spelling. Do you by any chance connect with any of the above information on my families? Thanks. Dunavin, Dunivan, Duniven, Dunovan + all the foregoing with doubled Ns, and probably more variations that have only shown up once or twice. I'm searching for Martha Dunavon? born about 1814 in KY, maried in IN, Greene Co.1835. There are only three Dunnavin? familes in the entire state at that period and none in that county. The closest family was only there during one census. (William 60-70, female 50-60, female 20-30; next to Thomas Dunnivan, 20-30 in 1840 also a James Donavan nearby--they were few and far between in that time frame also). Also found John Dunavan and wife Frances in Fountain Co. IN from Rockingham VA (m. too late) and John Dunivin and wife Catherine in Putnam Co. IN (right ages of children but all born in TN). I can't put my hands on my notes just now but I believe these names and dates are accurate. What were the dates for William in Christian Co.?
