    3. Thank you for describing "Clon" for those folks on this list who haven't had the good fortune to go there. It is a place that will take your breath away, as is that whole area of Ireland. Everyone on this listserv should take themselves to a Borders bookstore, or a Barnes & Noble, and get a detailed map of Ireland. The south/southeast area of Ireland is where the Donovan/O'Donovan clan is seated. Spend some time memorizing the small towns and parishes --then book your vacation!! Travel to Ireland--and concentrate your visit in Co. Cork--you won't be sorry! AND it will cost you less than a week at Walt Disney World in Orlando. -----Original Message----- From: Charles Tucker <mickobrien_2000@yahoo.com> To: DONOVAN-L@rootsweb.com <DONOVAN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, September 04, 2001 7:21 PM Subject: Re: [DONOVAN-L] Re: Donovans from Clonakilty :Just a general observation . . . : :First of all, Clonakilty is easy to locate on "almost" :any map of Ireland showing County Cork. Is is in the :southern part of the county west of Cork and down on :the coast. A beautiful place indeed. : :If your ggrandfather is from Clonakilty and is :Catholic, their records extend back to 1809. The :priest, Msgr. O'Sullivan, lives right across the :street from the Church: Immacuate Conception. If you :write him I am sure he will locate your records if :they're there. A small "token" is appropriate. : :There are indeed a ton of Donovans and lots of Harts :in and around Clonakilty. There is even a restaurant :in town named "Hart's" and a pub named Donovan's." : :I have a Timothy Donovan, but he was born in 1842. It :is at least interesting to note that his parents were :James Donovan and Mary Hart. Mary Hart's sister, :Joanna, is my gggrandmother. She married Timothy :O'Brien in Immaculate Conception (the old site where :the National School is next door now) in 1825. : :There are Hart's buried in the cemetery at Kilkern :just outside of Ardfield. Also, there are Hart's in :the cemetery at Rosscarberry behind the Celtic Ross :Hotel right along the coast. : :Plenty of Donovan's lived in Mountain Common, often :times simply called "The Mountain" today. : :I just thought you'd be interested in the fact that :there are a bunch of Donovans and Harts in that area. : :Bye : : :--- Mslatt31@aol.com wrote: :> :> Joe: :> :> Do you know the names of your Jeremiah's :> parents?
