My great grandmother was Mary Donovan b.1842. She married Allen Dorsey my great grandfather, and brought to live with them, Catherine (Jane) age 15, Martha (Ann) age 9, Ellen (Eleanor) age 7, and William Thomas age 12, all Donovans. I have assumed perhaps they were orphans. This was all on the 1860 census of Gallatin County Illinois. Also there was a Andrew Donovan 18, living at a poor house. (Maybe her twin?) I found Mary Donovan Dorsey and Allen on 1870 census (same place) with four little Dorseys and no Donovans. Also William Thomas on same census living alone. That is all the information I have on Donovans and lost track of them before and after. Could there be a connection to any of your ILlinois Donovans? If you see something,would you let me know?
