Hi! Hope there may be a connection here. I have been searching the family for four years and have learned more in the past two months than in all those four years. My husband's Grandmother was Honora O'Brien Jameson. I know about the Jamesons. It is the O'Briens I am looking for. Hang on. I will get to the Donovans! Nora's parents were Daniel O'Brien and Mary Barnett. About two months ago I sent for Daniel's death certificate, hoping that it MIGHT have the names of his parents on it. IT DID! They were John O'Brien and Margaret Donovan. Good news! We knew that the family was from County Cork and about a month ago, after I rejoined the County Cork list, I found out that Daniel O'Brien, Jr (Never married) was born in RossCarbery. Two weeks later a note came saying that Ellen (Nellie who married a Sheridan) O'Brien was also born in Ross Carbery to the same parents. Birthdays correct! Nora was born before all the births had to be registered, so I will have to do some searching in church records, but now I know what parrish they were from. Last night I was checking Daniel Sr's naturalization papers again and found to my amazement that they were witnessed by Timothy Donovan and John Donovan!! Didn't know they had other family that came to the US. All of this took place in Boston, Mass and the first person in the family who came to the US was Nora in 1883. Her father didn't come until the 1890s so I presume that his wife died in Ireland. When Daniel, Sr came home with a new wife in a few years later, the family wouldn't let them in the house!!! Funny. Anyway, with your names being similar and everyone in families naming kids after all the others in the family, I think you and my husband might be relatives. Especially since yours emigrated so late and were from Ross Carbery. I would like to find out if the ship Oruba stopped in Boston or New York. Some of the family landed in NY and some in Boston.
