Hello to everyone. I am new to this list and to geneology in general - so I not sure how to start or proceed. I am looking for information on relatives or ancestors of my grandfather, Timothy Joseph Donovan of Allston, Massachusetts. He was born in Cork, Ireland on March 23, 1898 and died on January 17, 1963. He came to the US as a young boy with his parents. I have no information on his parents except that they possibly lived in Charleston, Mass and his father's name may have also been Timothy. My grandfather was the 2nd oldest of 5 children: Rickert, Timothy, John, Mary, and Peter (Petey). Rickert had 2 daughters; one whose name was Arlene. John married Nellie Kellaher and they had a daughter, Mildred. Mary had a daughter and Mary died in about 1979. Peter was involved in the Boston political scene for most of his life. Timothy was a Boston firefighter for his whole life. At age 20, Feb 2, 1919, he married Alice Mary Barrett, age 27, and they moved into the downstairs apartment of her parents' home at 260 North Harvard Street. They both lived in that house for the rest of their lives. My grandmother, Alice, died in 1985 at age 94. Timothy and Alice had 2 children: Jean Barrett Donovan, born Jan 19, 1926, and my father, Timothy Joseph Donovan, Jr., born July 23, 1927 and died July 24, 1981. Most of the above information comes from letters and conversations I had with my grandmother when she was between the ages of 75-80. While she was mentally very sharp at the time, I have not verified the information. My father did not seem to know much about his Donovan relatives or seem very interested in them. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information on my family. Yuo can email me at DJDono820@aol.com. Thanks, Dana John Donovan
