He had previously married an Elizabeth Mahoney before 1815, when their daughter Mary Ann was born. He was a shoemaker. Any links out there? Liz

My relative married a woman whose family came from Maine. I am wondering if there is any conncection since the Donovans seem to have a penchant for using the same names. In other words, could YOUR John Frank be the son of MY John Frank's first cousin.
Anyone researching DONOVAN's from St. Louis, MO and then Creston, Union Co, IA? Would be interested to hear from you. Thanks, Paul W.
Hi, I have heard from my father that Wild Bill Donovan is actually one of my ancesters. I don't know that much about him but I'm sure my dad does. If you contact me in early October of this year he will be back in the US and I will ask him. Also, you might try your local library's geneology department. In my town they actually have a separate building. Maybe yours does too. Sincerely Marcella A. Gonzales (Donovan) Good Luck!

Cornelius' parents were Cornelius Donovan and Samantha Wilson according to what I've found. I am the daughter of Donald Donovan, son of Charles and Mildred. We are definitely cousins. Have you info on the previous generation, Dennis and Catharine Donovan?
Have you obtained copies of their death certificates in the states where they lived when they died? Those certs will probably hold lots of clues--like where they were born, where their parents were born, and maybe even names of children and the spouses of those children. Lots of times, unfortunately, the vital records list only "Ireland" if the person was born there, so you cannot identify the parish or the town they came from. However, you can use the maiden name of the spouse to keep on the track. It would be easier, Maureen, if you posted a listing of those who *weren't* named Jeremiah Donovan in Clonakilty in the 1850's! :-)) -----Original Message----- From: Mslatt31@aol.com <Mslatt31@aol.com> To: DONOVAN-L@rootsweb.com <DONOVAN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, September 05, 2001 8:40 PM Subject: Re: [DONOVAN-L] Re: Donovans from Clonakilty :Laura: : Thank you so much for giving me the "Cork Ireland Gen Web". Thank you for describing "Clon" for those folks on this list who haven't had the good fortune to go there. It is a place that will take your breath away, as is that whole area of Ireland. Everyone on this listserv should take themselves to a Borders bookstore, or a Barnes & Noble, and get a detailed map of Ireland. The south/southeast area of Ireland is where the Donovan/O'Donovan clan is seated. Spend some time memorizing the small towns and parishes --then book your vacation!! Travel to Ireland--and concentrate your visit in Co. Cork--you won't be sorry! AND it will cost you less than a week at Walt Disney World in Orlando. -----Original Message----- From: Charles Tucker <mickobrien_2000@yahoo.com> To: DONOVAN-L@rootsweb.com <DONOVAN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, September 04, 2001 7:21 PM Subject: Re: [DONOVAN-L] Re: Donovans from Clonakilty :Just a general observation . . . : :First of all, Clonakilty is easy to locate on "almost" :any map of Ireland showing County Cork.
