Thought maybe somebody might find it interesting or needed. ==================================================== All of the following took place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Clonakility, County Cork, Ireland. Of course, the name of the parish, Immaculate Conception, may not have been official until sometime after these events. There were two parish chruch locations for the same congregation that predated the current church's location. I believe it was on the site of the International School when these dates occured. Mary Donovan baptized on 20 May 1839 Parents were James Donovan and Mary Hart. Sponsors were John Hodnett & Ellen Hart Timothy Donovan baptised on 26 Dec 1842 Parents were James Donovan & Mary Hart Sponsors were John Donovan & Catherine "Cummins"[???] Margaret Donovan (AKA Mary)baptised on 25 Jan 1836 Parents were James Donovan and Mary Hart Sponsors were Michael Heas & Ellen Donovan James Donovan baptised on 14 Nov 1846 Parents were James Donovan and Mary Hart Sponsors were Michael Heas and Ellen Minihane ALSO . . . Cousins/in-laws Timothy O'Brien and Joanna Hart married on 12 Apr 1825. Witnesses were Jeremiah Mahoney & Elizabeth O'Brien Let me know if any of these look like they might connect to your own folks. 2. Kelly Parasida
    3. Hi all, Just wanted to tell everyone that I'm sorry I haven't been around at all for a while now. I'm in my last semester at Penn State and this past summer and the first half of this semester have been really busy! Also, I finally got everyone's information onto the web page. I'm sure some of you were wondering what happened to me, but it's on there now so everyone should go take a look at all of the updates. What do you say we get this list going a bit better? I'm sure there are people on here that haven't posted their Donovan lines yet. We'd all like to hear from you. And for those of you who haven't posted their lines in a long time, why don't you give it another try too? Let's see if we can't make some connections... Hope to hear from all of you, Kelly kxp184@psu.edu Donovan Family Center http://www.crosswinds.net/~hallisey/Donovan/index.html

    1. [DONOVAN-L] Margaret DONOVAN & John O"BRIEN Ireland 1820s to ???
    2. Barbara P Jameson
    3. I am new to this list and this is a first posting. We are looking for information on Margaret DONOVAN and John O'BRIEN. They lived in County Cork, Ireland and probably died there. The only child we know about was Daniel O'Brien b Jan 1839, so his parents could have been married anywhere from 1820 to 1860. Daniel married Mary Ellen BARNETT and their known children were Honora, Daniel, Margaret, Nellie, Brenda and Minnie. All of these children came to the US in the 1880s and 1890s. Daniel Sr came here in the 1890s and lived with his daughter Honora and her husband Thomas JAMESON which leads us to believe that Honora was the eldest child. It is believed Mary BARNETT O'BRIEN died in Ireland before Daniel emigrated to the USA. Daniel Jr and Margaret never married. Nellie was married to a SHERIDAN and Brenda was married to a BROWN I am also looking for a place in County Cork where the names BARNETT, O'BRIEN and DONOVAN might be concentrated. Thanks. Barbara Prior Jameson

    1. [DONOVAN-L] Birth/Death/Marriage Certificates
    2. Loring Hutchinson
    3. After a years search I have finally received a copy of my ggf 's death certificate. For everyone's info, it wasn't in either the state archives of Massachusetts or the Boston City Records, (originally) but a second request to the Boston City records at the city hall produced results. I was able to narrow the window (time of death) down to "5 to 10 years" instead of "10 to 17". I feel like I found a valuable gem when I look at the certificate. BTW, I got my ggm's maiden name from the certificate. Now the search begins again. This is my first post to the Donovan page. My Donovan's are by way of St. John's Newfoundland to Boston Loring in Texas (in the country north of dallas) (85 days and no rain)

    3. I'm a new subscriber to this list and hope the following means something to someone. And I hope it's all right to have posted the same query on the DONAVON list. I don't know which spelling is appropriate. I have Daniel James DONOVAN (possibly of Cork, Ire.) marries Julia O'BRIEN (possibly of Donegal, Ire.) in Pittsburgh, PA around 1866. They have seven children: Ellen Marie, Julia, Marguerite, Daniel (Jr.), Margaret, Annie, and Kate. I believe all were born in Pittsburgh. Daniel (Sr.) is a stone cutter and dies in a quarry accident. Julia's 2nd husband is Peter LENNON. Ellen Marie marries William COPE in 1890, there in Pittsburgh. Julia marries William's brother, Al COPE; and after he dies - Fred BARRINGER. Marguerite marries Charles SIMONS. They move to the Los Angeles area about 1904. Annie marries a HELFREY. I have her near Los Angeles around 1900. And Kate became a nun. That's all I know of the children. Julia O'BRIEN's mother's maiden name was WHITE. Any additional info on this family would be greatly appreciated. Gary E. Flynn geflynn@earthlink.net
